Make every moment one to remember at Expo

It’s often said, “the family that goes boating together, stays together” … and this important fact is one of the underlying pillars of success for the Gold Coast International Marine Expo. Now in its fourth year, the Expo is going from strength to strength … and Event and Marketing Manager Emma Milne said the focus for 2014 is still firmly fixed on helping families create fun memories that they can treasure for a lifetime. “Family plays an important role in the boating industry and this fact is certainly not lost on our exhibitors who have...

High-Diver Steve Black is back doing what he loves at Expo

Do NOT try this at home! That’s right – this guy has set himself on fire and jumped from a 25m tower. His plan is to land in a pool of just 3 metres of water … and survive. A bit extreme? Perhaps … but it should be noted that Steve Black IS a professional, and he IS very well prepared. He’s also very well credentialed – the 47-year-old Gold Coaster is a two-time world champion high-diver whose career in aerial acrobatics … and antics … still takes him right around the globe. He has even competed – in fact for 15 years – in the highly...

Learn about life beneath the water at Expo

Every angler has been there: your tackle box is full, anticipation is high. The tide change approaches and you sense your prey … hungry and hunting. You cast your lure with precision and you begin your retrieval with those spasmodic twitches you’ve perfected in your sleep. You cast again … retrieve … cast … retrieve. What happens next? Well, it depends heavily on your location, skill, expertise and, of course, your choice of lure. Fortunately, anglers of all abilities will have the chance to hone their knowledge of all things fishing during...

Expo helps Sailability Gold Coast grant FREEDOM

There’s just one word that reminds Paul Dinniss why he first volunteered for Sailability Gold Coast: “FREEDOM”! “It’s the look of freedom on the faces of our clients when they are out on the water,” says Mr Dinniss, the charity’s current president. “It’s a great leveller – they are out of their restrictive world and they can be their own person – with the wind and the water on their side, they can do anything!” Hundreds of people have tasted this special type of freedom since the seeds were sown for Queensland’s first functional Sailability...
